Authorized Relocates to Capital Stud

We are delighted to announce that multiple Grade 1 sire Authorized has relocated to Capital Stud.

Bred by Mick Kinane, Marengo Investments and Knighton House, Authorized won the Racing Post Trophy as a two-year-old for trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam and owners Imad Al Sagar and Saleh Al Homaizi.

As a three-year-old Authorized won the Epsom Derby by 5 lengths before finishing a gallant second in the Eclipse Stakes. The following month the brilliant son of Montjeu recorded a thrilling victory in the Juddmonte International defeating Horse of the Year and 6-time Gr.1 winner Dylan Thomas.

Since his exploits on the track Authorized has become a multiple Grade 1 sire under both codes. He top performers over jumps include 8-time Grade 1 winner Nichols Canyon, Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase and Irish Grand National winner I Am Maximus, dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll, Grade 1 Irish Mares Champion Hurdle winner Echos In Rain and multiple Graded-winning hurdler Goshen. While on the flat his top performers include Gr.1 Irish Derby winner Santiago, Gr.1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Ambivalent, Gr.1 British Champions Fillies' & Mares' Stakes winner Seal Of Approval and multiple Gr.1 winners in Australia Hartnell and Complacent.

“He was always on our radar in Turkey and I have a friend of mine out there, I asked him if there was any chance we could get Authorized. He initially said no, he'll never be sold, but we kept on asking really for the last seven or eight months and eventually we had the contract signed up.

"It's been a lot of perseverance on our part and we're delighted to get him back. He's turning 20, so our first concern is to get him home, but there's a huge amount of interest in him. He'll cover as many mares as he wants, we won't cover huge numbers with him as he's very much a boutique stallion. The aim is to cover some very nice mares from Ireland, England and France.

"He's a very famous horse, he's done brilliant things already and we want to respect him and let him cover as many mares as he's happy to cover." Ger O’Neill
